We took a mental break over the weekend for a little end of the summer fun at the Brooklyn Flea & AfroPunk in Brooklyn! I spent a few hours at the Brooklyn Flea on Sunday and scored so many fabulous finds. The flea market is held every Sunday in Dumbo and features quality vendors of furniture, vintage clothing, collectibles and antiques. A few of my favorite vintage vendors who exhibit at the Manhattan Vintage Show exhibit at the Sunday Flea Market as well. One in particular, had the most amazing vintage wide leg pantsuit that I scored for $40. The pantsuit reminds me of something Willona Woods would have rocked on Good Times, yaaaas!
The highlight of my NYC solo weekend trip was finding these three vintage albums at the Brooklyn Flea. Jazz music, in particular John Coltrane soothes the soul. Thrifting and vintage shopping in New York is our favorite pastime, and we are currently finalizing the logistics for the Modage Style Holiday Inspired Fashion Bus Tour right before Christmas!
While in Brooklyn, I was able to reserve the most immaculate brownstone compliments of Airbnb and my hostess Ms. Verna was the absolute best.
Prior to stopping by AfroPunk, I visited SoCo in Brooklyn for a quick bite and the food was delicious. I opted for the Clinton Hill Omelette with White Cheddar Grits and a Hibiscus Margarita. The vibe was chill, the music was amazing and the service was stellar.
This was my first Afro Punk experience and I definitely plan to return next year. The personal style was truly on another level.
Fun times with my sister-in-fashion Selina Howard of Vainglorious Brides.
My entire look was snagged while resale shopping (except my sandals).
I adore my custom Ankh and Cowrie Shell rings by Enoch The Jeweler of Those Brothers Jewelry at AfroPunk.
Such an epic weekend and Janelle Monáe had the crowd groovin’. This was the perfect end of summer fun and Brooklyn was such a great host.
