Tuesday Morning Slay – Solange

Solange is the new face of Michael Kors’ street style campaign The Walk.  The R&B songstress stars as the leading lady which was shot by photographer Tommy Ton around New York City.  The Walk, places emphasis on individual style and is the first of what shall be an ongoing series. We are totally here for this Tuesday Morning Slay and Solange owns these Fall inspired looks effortlessly.

Love this look.  Solange rocks a faux fur green jacket over a matching neck tie blouse paired with black leather pants and white platform oxfords.

Watch Solange style three outfits from the designer’s fall collection in a new campaign video.

Fans who want to join the campaign can share images using the #SidewalkSpotted hashtag for a chance to be featured on The Walk.

Style File ● The Look For Less

I visited the mall yesterday and spotted a leather jumper that screamed “YAAAAS,” however, the retail price was $450.  I thought back years ago when I would have splurged and purchased it without even thinking. Thank goodness I have the resale bug now, because I purchased this leather jumper that I wore to Vegas from Goodwill in Richmond for $8 and the Carmen Marc Valvo sequins blazer was $5 from Savers. The look for less for under $20.

Style File ● Revamp Your Accessories

Thanks to Pinterest and InStyle, I have designated the month of August to declutter and purge all clothing and accessories that I no longer wear or need.  Perhaps a quick fashion swap may be appropriate?

Since this task will be daunting (yes, I said it), I really wanted to have a vision.  Two words that came to mind were “fully functional and classy.”  It is almost like I would like to have my own boutique that I have the luxury of personally shopping at daily. I am sure that I am not the only person who has purchased the same statement necklace, or one very similar twice due to lack of organizing. Or, how about two bracelets tangled to the point of no return?

I adore the unconventional pieces used to execute the the fashion forward images showcased below and the majority of these items are found in my favorite thrift and vintage stores.

When displaying my accessories, I plan to incorporate vintage plates, fashion magazines, small bowls and decorative home pieces.  Hanging jewelry on remixed cork boards or using a vintage cheese grater to display dangling/oversize earrings are all creative and chic ways to showcase your prize possessions in style.

How will you revamp your accessories?

Style File ● 100% Resale Look

Happy Monday!

I have challenged myself to incorporate at least one resale piece into my daily looks. While having dinner over the weekend with close friends, I had the perfect opportunity to wear this comfortable little black cotton dress and a pair of unique sparkly platform sandals that were both snagged while on the NYC MODAGE Style Vintage/Resale Bus Tour.

My goal is to always work my preexisting wardrobe and removing the sentence, “I have nothing to wear,” from my vocabulary. Planning is key and it took me years to learn this. Once I developed a thorough resale eye, I’ve been able to snag vintage and modern pieces for less than the cost of my java addiction.

As of late, my style has been pretty conservative; however, I’m really trying to mix it up on the weekends in between client meetings.  Throughout the month, I’ll continue to post my 100% resale looks.

MODAGE Approved | Diana Ross Inspired

Taraji P. Henson paid homage to Ms. Diana Ross in the best way possible compliments of W Magazine.  11217182_10206963291428837_7933884324132590618_n

We love anything Diana Ross inspired and Ms. Henson definitely channeled her in this editorial shot.  Do you think Taraji nailed “The Boss” in this picture?
