High Fashion Inspired Halloween Looks

Happy Halloween!  For the last four years, I’ve celebrated this ghoulish holiday in Costa Rica with plenty of creative locals.   Since the weather is extremely balmy, I never have the opportunity to wear such bold and enchanting costumes.  Yes, it’s warm at night, and the majority usually wear a few stand alone pieces with fun embellishments to enhance their looks.  In the spirit of Fashion Friday, I stumbled upon several high fashion inspired Halloween looks that I would definitely consider recreating.  Also, several of these looks remind me of Daphne Guinness.  She is truly a Style Maven who could pull these looks off effortlessly.

Enjoy your Halloween and be safe this evening!  Oh, I’m channelling a vintage bunny tonight. Purrrrr!  :-)

MODAGE Style | Resale Fashion Challenge

After reading Patrice William’s book Looking Fly on a Dime, I’ve been inspired to wear at least one resale piece each day.  Items may include shoes, accessories, clothing, coats, etc., in both November and December. I find great pleasure in pulling pieces that tell a story and have history.  It is so easy to go into a store and buy something (and look like everyone else), but those who thrift understand how great it feels when you find something amazing, unique, and possibly on-trend that fits like a glove.  Below are a few fabulous resale finds and looks from this year.  Fashion challenge anyone?

If you are interested in joining me,  please post your daily looks highlighting your “gently worn” item.  Please do not forget to use our hashtags: #‎MODAGEStyle‬ ‪#‎MODAGEStyleTour‬ ‪#‎StyleMaven‬.

Sunday Inspired Quote

I always love finding Sunday inspired quotes that set the tone for a productive week.  The quote “Bloom Where You Are Planted,” speaks volumes and confirms that we must understand, appreciate and continue to flourish in own current space.  We are all destined for greatness; however, we should remember to respect our journey and never stop striving to reach our full potential.

Do you have a quote that speaks to your soul and fuels your passion?  If so, please share.

Bridal Fashion | Remembering Oscar de la Renta

In loving memory of the renowned Oscar de la Renta, I’ve featured a few of my favorite bridal inspired looks that hit the runway.  De la Renta  is one of the most celebrated couture designers, also known as the “Father of Red Carpet Fashion.”  He will be remembered for shaping the look of the modern day bride.  The Oscar de la Renta bride is feminine, graceful, glamorous and fashion forward.  She sets her own trends and commands attention when she enters a room.

From his exquisite craftsmanship to his unparalleled eye for detail and tailoring, his legacy will live on and continue to evoke elegance and sophistication.  The Huffington Post said it best, “The world will be much less graceful and elegant.”

Street Style Inspired | 3 Stylish Looks To Recreate

Scrolling through old images from New York Fashion Week, I stumbled upon and challenged myself to recreate these three stylish looks during the Fall/Winter season.  Since I currently own similar pieces, I am going to throw caution to the wind and live it up a bit {just because}.   I just love everything about each look, and they all scream effortless style.  Capes, oversize hats, texture, bold colors, vintage clutches, stylish booties, a cinched waist, and blazers are my guilty pleasure.

The best fashion show is definitely on the street. Always has been, and always will be.”  Bill Cunningham

NY Bridal Market | Claire Pettibone Fall 2015

French lace, silk embroidery and intricate beading . . . .

In honor of Wedding Wednesday, I am featuring several enchanting looks from one of my favorite bridal designers Claire Pettibone.  Pettibone is an American fashion designer based in Los Angeles.  She is prominently known for her couture wedding gowns, intimate apparel, and lifestyle collection.  And she always has the best swag bags at her runway shows!

I love the saying “Business in the front, party in the back.”   Feast your eyes on my favorite Claire Pettibone gowns from NY Bridal Market which highlights a bride’s sexy back.  Claire Pettibone’s Fall 2015 Bridal collection is not only romantic, but the ornate details of each gown will guarantee a few jaw dropping moments.  The looks below are appropriate for any stylish bride who wishes to achieve a bit of back drama on her special day.

Style Maven Spotlight | Grace Jones

Beverly Grace Jones is a Jamaican actress, singer and model. Jones is truly one unique Style Maven, and I’ve loved her since the early 80’s.  Her bold style is truly one-of-a-kind and stood out in a fashion pool of normalcy.  She also has a love for hats (like me) and I’m still a secret fan of her hit “Pull Up To My Bumper.”   Her looks continues to inspire on the runway and editorial shoots and her provocative, yet unapologetic fashion flair lives on at this very moment.

I believe in individuality, that everybody is special, and it’s up to them to find that quality and let it live. Grace Jones
